Leadership isn’t rocket science. Or, is it?

The book Boss Talk comprises a series of interviews with twenty of the world’s top CEO. It’s
a compilation put together by the editors of the Wall Street Journal.
They got Tom Peters to write the introduction. Here is a flavour of what Peters says:
“This book is not about rocket science. It’s about people confronting enormously complex challenges… and keeping it simple. And human. Holding themselves to a handful of (in retrospect!) self-evident truths. By telling the truth. Obsessing on talent. Listening to the customer. Acting fast – long before “perfect information” is available. Controlling the calendar (diary). Getting out and about and not becoming trapped by ‘headquartersitis.’”
Has your leadership role presented you with enormously complex challenges of late? Perhaps you are able to empathise with what these Chief Executives have learned. Or, you might even wish to learn and apply some of their lessons as you increasingly seek to get better at performing your leadership responsibilities. Peters’ introduction is challenging in its own right and the little book is a treasure trove. Check it out.
