Important Gaps: Challenges to making change work

In his insightful 2005 book The Master Strategist, Ketan, J. Patel points out some important gaps where it comes to effecting important change in our organisations:

  1. The Methods and Concepts Gap
A key question indicating this gap is the failure to ask the question: So we have adequate methods and conceptual frameworks in our toolkit to enable us to formulate good strategy?
  1. The Ideas Gap
Have we adequately explored the field and challenged our world-view? Is the question being neglected here?
  1. The Leadership Gap
This third point has some interesting and rather challenging questions which include: Do we have the leaders for the job? Can we execute our plans?

Ketan’s apparently benign gaps would challenge any thoughtful leader concerned with results. Does this resonate with you at all?
