It is not rocket science but, in her book ‘Bad Leadership: What it Is, How it Happens, Why it Matters’, Barbara Kellerman’s picture of bad leadership is instructive.

She identifies seven forms of bad leadership:

• Incompetent
• Rigid
• Intemperate
• Callous
• Corrupt
• Insular
• Evil

Strong words, one might say, from such a long term authority on leadership. She argues that it is a shared responsibility we should all embrace if bad leadership is to be minimised or avoided.
